Riftbound card types

Every card is one of six types. Type decides what a card does in play, and as the value column shows it has more to do with price than rarity alone.

A card type is what a Riftbound card does in play: a Unit fights, a Spell resolves once, a Legend names the deck, Gear stays out, a Battlefield is the ground being fought over and a Rune pays for it all. Every card in the game is exactly one of them.

Questions about card types

How many card types are there in Riftbound?

Six: Unit, Spell, Legend, Gear, Battlefield, Rune. Every printing in the catalog is exactly one of them, and the type is printed on the card under the name.

Which card type is worth the most?

Legend, which holds 54.11% of everything the catalog is worth across 128 printings, averaging $330.42 a card. Unit is the most numerous type at 686 printings, which is not the same thing at all.

Which type has the most expensive cards on average?

Legend, at $330.42 a printing. The median is $39.39, and the gap between the two is the usual tell: a handful of chase printings pull the average well above what a typical card of that type costs.
